Congresswomen Kat Cammack “proudly serving Florida’s 3rd district” will support North Florida’s largest motorsport park, and all the constituents in her district that will be in attendance, December 4th and 5th for Nitro RallyCross!
“I’m thrilled to welcome the fans, drivers, and racing enthusiasts to this exciting event that draws spectators from across our region and the country,” said Rep. Kat Cammack, congresswoman for Florida’s Third Congressional District. “FIRM is such an asset to our district and North Central Florida and I look forward to all the fun to come.”
The Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park, Inc., The “FIRM” is home to great events like Krawl’n For the Fallen; which raises awareness and support for the personnel in Florida who’s families have lost someone in the line of duty with more than 3,000 in attendance last month, the 17th annual FIXX FEST; a ‘Best of Class’ show of 2,000 cars along with 4,000 spectators and this weekend NITRO RallyCross; an EXTREME race with more than 5,000 people expected each day!
“Come watch today’s modern Evel Knievel, who’s jumped through fire rings, over busses, jumped out of a plane with nothing more than a Red Bull, competed in X-games, and MotoX, bring EXTREME to the Rally community! Travis Pastrana has taken anything on wheels to a new world record and now he brings “the EXTREME” to the Rally community. NITRO RallyCross is a fast-paced, door-to-door, timed-event, with obstacles that grandma will love to watch with grandkids as they squeal in delight!” said Larina Hintze, Vice President of Operations.
The FIRM is a technical training facility that uses a unique “rally” style of driving to help military units, processional drivers all the way through to teens improve their driving skills! The FIRM is located at the Keystone Heights airport.
The airport was constructed in 1942 as Crystal Lake Airfield, and was commissioned in December 1942 as Keystone Army Airfield (AAF) by the United States Army Air Forces. It was used as part of the Air University‘s Army Air Forces School of Applied Tactics (AAFSAT) tactical combat simulation school in Central and Northern Florida. After the end of World War II, the facility was turned over to the City of Keystone Heights in 1947.
The FIRM and airport are great partners because customers can fly in for a day of driving and enjoy the exceptional service and lower cost fuel the airport has to offer.
“We couldn’t be more excited NITRO RallyCross chose The FIRM venue to showcase their final race. These large events bring awareness to our ‘hidden gem’ lake community and have a positive economic impact for all our local businesses. We look forward to a continued partnership with all the stakeholders and are excited for the future,” said Maria Hitt, Airport Manager.
The FIRM appreciates the opportunity Clay County tourism brought to our area by securing an agreement with NITRO RallyCross which will be covered by Peacock; an American video streaming service owned by NBCUniversal.
“To have Clay and Bradford counties on the global stage of this caliber is a tremendous boost to our local economy and tells the world that we are an emerging Florida destination,” said Clay County Commission Chairman, Wayne Bolla. “We look forward to welcoming NRX fans to this exciting event.”
